Ryland Hancock

I'm Ryland. I've been passionate about fitness, and the sport of Weightlifting, since I was a young man and that passion has only grown as I've gotten older. I've held many different jobs in the industry, ranging from personal trainer to gym owner. I currently work as the wellness director for a trucking company in Phoenix, AZ, but am wanting to get back into coaching part-time as well. My hobbies outside of fitness include snowboarding, bouldering, mountain biking, and gaming with my friends. I am also currently in school for a degree in history.

Gym Owner

Self

2015 Jun. 01 - 2016 Nov. 30

I was co-owner of a gym called Afterburner Athletics for just under 18 months. During that time (in addition to my responsibilities as owner) I was the head weightlifting coach, coached our kids classes, and helped coach sports performance in conjunction with my business partner. We were decently successful, kept ourselves out of debt as a company, and were growing into what I hoped would be a thriving fitness center. Unfortunately, my business partner was offered another opportunity that, at the time, he didn't feel he could pass up. Due to that we made the tough decision to close our doors.

Wellness Director

Western Transport Logistics

2016 Nov. 01 - 2021 Oct. 04

My current job. My main responsibility is sending daily emails to our drivers that include 20 minute workouts with video instruction for each movement. These emails are directly geared towards strengthening our driver's lower back/hips/knees in an attempt to have fewer lost days due to chronic pain. I am also in charge of our employee fitness center - a small, well equipped gym I built for our employees in 2018. All employees are allowed to use it on their own after going through a fitness assessment with me, but we also use it for one-on-one instruction and group stretching classes throughout the week.
